Protect Democracyβs mission is to prevent our democracy from declining into a more authoritarian form of government.
We assess ourselves on how we're creating a diverse team, and how we're creating belonging for each member of the team. Building diverse teams: We believe diverse teams are inherently more effective and are essential to understanding the range of challenges the country faces and responding accordingly. We make deliberate efforts to recruit and hire people that have different experiences, backgrounds, and points of view, but we do not expect any individual to be responsible for speaking on behalf of an entire group. Fostering belonging for all: We want every person who comes to Protect Democracy to feel like they belong here. We have an internal Belonging team, who maps out, recommends, and implements ideas to increase belonging across the org. An example of a project that came out of our Belonging work is increased support for parents through a child care stipend (and a recommitment to our principle that work-life balance is a professional responsibility).
