At Proven, inclusion isn’t a side initiative; it’s part of how we choose our clients, build our teams, and define success. We’re a remote, collaborative design and engineering consultancy that works with nonprofits and mission-driven organizations, so we think a lot about equity, access, and who gets a seat at the table, both internally and externally.
How we aim to be inclusive:
People-first, flexible culture. We’re remote and results-focused, which gives people room to do their best work while balancing life, caregiving, health, and community commitments. We care more about how you think and collaborate than whether your résumé looks “traditional.”
Psychological safety and respect. We work intentionally to create an environment where you can bring your full self—background, identity, lived experience, and perspective—without having to code-switch. That includes respecting pronouns and chosen names, zero tolerance for harassment or discrimination, and clear, kind communication norms.
Thoughtful hiring, not “culture fit.” We don’t hire for sameness. We value candidates who add new perspectives to our team. We are especially interested folks who are underrepresented in tech and digital agencies (including but not limited to people of color, LGBTQ+ people, disabled and neurodivergent people, and people with non-linear career paths). We use clear role expectations and structured interviews to reduce bias as much as possible.
Values-aligned partners. We’re selective about the organizations we work with. We prioritize clients and vendors whose policies and practices demonstrate support for equity and inclusion, such as strong LGBTQ+ protections and broader DEI commitments, so the environments we collaborate in are safer and more affirming for everyone.
Growth for more than “the usual suspects.” We pay attention to who gets stretch assignments, visibility with clients, and leadership opportunities, and we try to distribute those chances fairly rather than defaulting to the most “typical” profile in the room.
Why underrepresented people in tech should consider us:
If you care about meaningful work, fair treatment, and not having to leave parts of yourself at the door to succeed, Proven may be a good fit. You’ll be working with a team that genuinely cares about social impact, animal welfare, and environmental responsibility, while also doing high-quality, craft-focused digital work. We’re not perfect, but we’re transparent about where we are and committed to listening, learning, and improving with your perspective valued as part of that process.
