UC Merced has one of the most diverse student populations of any higher education institution in the country, with over 60% 1st Generation higher education students and Pell recipients. Additionally, the university is a designated Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) and has received multiple Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Awards from INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine.
Our analytics team is comprised of a diverse group of individuals who are working to support the growth of analytics across the university, building our version 2.0 Data Warehouse that will support many diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives by ensuring that the enterprise data architecture minimizes any biases in data selectivity. Our team actively collaborates with the university’s Vice Chancellor and Chief Diversity Officer on an array of projects, providing support as needed.
Most importantly, our team thrives when our people thrive, and this occurs when everyone’s unique identify is recognized and celebrated. Our communication practices are intended to be transparent, with multiple forums for open dialogue, both verbal and written. Professional Development is a shared responsibility between the management team and each team member. Opportunities for training and development are distributed equally amongst the team members.
